UK to leave single market, says Theresa May

European leaders had made very clear to her that single market membership required accepting the EU’s four fundamental freedoms: free movement of goods, services, capital and people.

Mrs May, who backed Remain in the referendum, called for a “new and equal partnership” with the EU, “not partial membership of the European Union, associate membership of the European Union, or anything that leaves us half-in, half-out”. Continue reading →
